Dr. Michael Kane is an aesthetic plastic surgeon who has been practicing in New York City for over fifteen years. From his offices on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Dr. Kane performs a wide variety of cutting-edge cosmetic procedures, facial rejuvenation, and injections. Dr. Kane has been in private practice since 1992, and frequently lectures on topics relating to aesthetic plastic surgery.
Medical Education
Dr. Kane started his medical career at an early age. Before graduating high school, Dr. Kane was accepted into a five-year program in medical education at Pennsylvania State University, in conjunction with Jefferson Medical College. In five years, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees, and was a member of the Hobart Hare Honor Society.
Following his medical studies, Dr. Kane entered a general surgery residency at New York Medical College. During this residency, based at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, Dr. Kane provided sophisticated surgical care to patients affected by the urban violence that plagued this area in the 1980s.
From 1989 to 1991, Dr. Kane participated in a plastic surgical residency at Wright State University in Ohio. Following this, he completed an additional fellowship in aesthetic surgery at NYU, based at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. There Dr. Kane studied under several of the nation’s preeminent cosmetic plastic surgeons, and also operated on his own patients. When Dr. Kane opened his practice in 1992, he had extensive surgical and clinical experience.
Dr. Kane is known for his work with Botulinum Toxin A, or Botox®. He pioneered the use of Botox® for cosmetic purposes while a fellow at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. Over the past twenty years, Dr. Kane has taught thousands of physicians how to properly inject Botox®through lectures and live demonstrations.
Dr. Kane is also a distinguished authority on correcting the tear trough and lower eyelid area using fillers. He authored the first scientific paper on this technique, and continues to lecture worldwide on the subject.

Dr. Kane has published hundreds of papers throughout his career. His work has appeared in top scientific journals such as Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Dermatologic Surgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Special topics of expertise on which he frequently lectures include: rejuvenation of the neck (eliminating the “cords” often seen below the chin); proper injection of Botox® around the crow’s feet area; use of Botox® to elevate and shape the eyebrows; smoothing of smile and laugh lines; diminishing wrinkles around the chin and below the corners of the mouth; maximizing safety with each injection; and the effects of long-term Botox® use for targeted muscle atrophy.
